Objectives

Through our work together in this course, we expect that you will learn to:

  • Recognize the various qualities a good engineer must possess and which of these are being taught (and not taught) explicitly or implicitly in their future education.

  • Use their later specific technical learning within the broader context of engineering practice.

  • Apply techniques to effectively communicate in oral and written form to a range of audiences including explaining complex technical issues to non-technical people.

  • Explain and practice the skills needed in working with people.

  • Demonstrate the ability to approach problems and issues from a variety of perspectives and via different techniques.

  • Describe engineering, its purpose, and the processes associated with it.

  • Illustrate your personal growth qualities as an engineer.
